This lot was truly a diamond in the rough! There was a bit of a decline from the road and most likely very few people ever made the trek down to see what would become the home site. If they had, they would have seen the spectacular lake views and purchased this lot on the spot! I'm glad that they didn't. When my client first showed it to me, I was immediately inspired. My design objectives were to design a small footprint and build up in lieu of building out, and gain access to the lakeshore which was the sweetest element of this great property. We didn't want the topography to swallow up the home and I think you will agree that it hasn't. This home is simple and reminiscent of New England Coast Cottages with its shingled exterior and simple lines. I don't know if a home should be characterized as photogenic, but this one is!

I was given several design perimeters at the onset of this project. This home should have a dominate presence on this street of other impressive lake homes and should take full advantage of its linear site and offer front and rear lake views. A third floor retreat was also desired. During construction, the builder, Kenny Hayes decided that this home would be kept for his family's personal enjoyment and not be offered for sale. It was also featured in the 2006 Showcase of Homes. The builder has been approached by prospective buyers, but Kenny held firm and politely told those inquiring that he had promised his children this would remain their lake home. The family is currently enjoying all that Lake Martin offers from their spacious amenity-filled lake home.

This home is Bill Farshee's personal favorite. It has a subdued, simple elegance that is a compliment to its setting. The upper Terrace and walk-out Balcony offer wonderful views of the lake from the front and rear of the house. An outdoor Kitchen shares 2 lake views as well as gentle unobstructed lake breezes. A favorite room for many visitors during The Ridge's Showcase of Homes was the Great Room. Its ceilings are 2-stories tall with light spilling in from cupola windows above and there is a bridge across that accesses the Balcony as well as a Guest Bedroom. The builder, Legacy Homes experienced multiple purchase contracts on this home during the Showcase of Homes.

This lake home is a testament to its owner's lifestyle and creativity. The daylight basement doubles as a work-out studio and tucked neatly away in the back is a wood-working shop. Mike constructed all the interior shaker-style doors himself as well as the handsome juniper wainscot and various other items. The volume of the Family Room with the timber beams at the 2-story ceiling, provide an inviting and warm space. The stone fireplace is 2-sided and separates the Family Room and Kitchen. The interiors were gracefully appointed with a warm red Kitchen and earth-tone Bed and Bath Rooms. A touch of whimsy greets you in the Powder Room with a galvanize farm pail as a lavatory and a reclaimed table for the vanity. You will find warm, bright, cheerful, details everywhere you look throughout the Murray Home.

This home began life as a speculative project. Soon after the shell was constructed, Monty (already a lake resident) happened by in his boat one day and saw it. He purchased it during construction and was able to select his own colors and many faux finishes. Lake views and lake access are why people live on Lake Martin . This home excels at both. The home's high ceilings, large windows and open core rooms allow for great circulation with generous lake vistas. This home has become a flagship for Legacy Homes (the builder) and has served as a springboard for several other pre-sale clients

This premier site has truly magical panoramic views of Lake Martin.  The articulated aspect of this the building footprint addresses lake views from many key rooms. Modeled, in a sense, to the Queen Anne style, this home seems fitting with its timbered gables atop homogenous local stone and cedar. Gracious verandas, stone terraces and other hardscapes enhance year round lake enjoyment.
